The Pelican 9015 (successor of the now discontinued 1910) is a tank! Looking for the ultimate protection for your precious memory cards? Look no further. Shock proof and water resistant, I put it to the test and drove a light truck (Jeep YJ) over it and it survived without any scratches. At under $20 a perfect stocking stuffer….

Various web sites such as B&H advertise the product coming with a “removable plain liner”, which wasn’t included in any of the five units I bought.
Why you want this
Well lets face it: I put more than one card through the washing machine (accidentally!) without loosing any sleep over it. The toughness of the case is overkill for most of us: SD memory cards are pretty touch already, shock proofing or moisture resistance is not really an issue.
Then again: This case is cool! And it’s a great way to keep your cards organized: When shooting events, I put my empty, labeled cards face up, and the used ones face-down, and never have to guess. Simple and effective! 12 cards are plenty for me for even a long day of shooting.
Aside from that, it actually looks pretty slick (I find), fits nicely into your pocket, and has a nifty little opening to secure it in your bag, e.g with a karabiner.
For you outdoorsy types: I actually had a cheap plastic case fall down a rock face while hiking, shatter, and send my cards flying. Never again! For water sport fans: This case floats!
What’s not so nice
Aside from the missing liner, I must say the 9015’s predecessor will be missed: In comparison, the new latch is somewhat difficult to open. The new foam liner, while probably cheaper than its rubber counterpart, makes it make difficult to quickly insert and remove the cards in the field. The new version is also slightly bigger.
For me, this case is a no-brainer. It’s tough, it’s cool, it’s black, and at under $20 a perfect stocking stuffer – or gift to you from yourself.
