Calgary Peace Bridge – Vietnamese Wedding

I love shooting in Calgary. It has so much to offer in terms of cool architecture and shooting locations. For example, the Peace Bridge, connecting the southern Bow River pathway and Downtown Calgary with the northern Bow River pathway and the community of Sunnyside.
The pedestrian bridge, designed by Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava, accommodates both pedestrians and cyclists and first opened for use on March 24, 2012.
The bridge is reportedly used by 6000 people a day and has ranked among the top 10 architectural projects in 2012 and among the top 10 public spaces of 2012.

Shutting Down A Bridge for Our Couple

It’s a BUSY bridge, but I like it as an eye catching location for both group and couples shoots. At the right time of day, you catch the sun and dramatic clouds through it’s soft arches, and teh leading lines ad drama and dynamic.
Did I mention it’s a busy bridge? I don’t mind shutting down landmarks for our clients (you have to be fast, though), it’s amazing how far a smile will take you. As one visiting bridesmaid from south of the border put it: “You can only do this in Canada, in the States you would have been arrested by now”.
